Market leading contracting firm, Togel Contractors Ltd, recently marked 30 successful years in business by raising a massive £30,000 for local charities.
Togel, the Doncaster based, nationwide, market leader in Commercial Refurbishments, Fit-outs, Bespoke Joinery and New Builds, launched their fundraising efforts in July 2015 with their annual Golf Day. The mammoth target was hit, exactly one year on, at their 2016 Golf Day.
The 2015 Golf Day played host to around 90 Golfers, ranging from clients to supply chain, varying competitions and Joe Miller, the 2016 World Long Drive Champion & 2010 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion. The chosen charity, the On Course Foundation support the recovery of injured and sick Service personnel and veterans through the medium of Golf. The charity offer a sporting challenge, filled with camaraderie and, for those leaving the Service, an array of attractive career opportunities. Paul Swain, a beneficiary of the On Course Foundation attended and played on the day, stating there was a “great vibe during an absolutely brilliant day”. The 13th annual Golf Day raising £5,000, allowing 30 of the other beneficiaries to further develop their Golf skills and discover the benefits of the sport.
To mark the 30th anniversary, Togel held a celebration party for staff and old friends of the Business, launching the complete business rebrand. Long service awards were presented, recognising loyalty and commitment, to a whopping 46 of the 121 employees currently working for Togel, proving just how much the staff believe in the business ethos.
The party also played host to a raffle, with all proceeds going to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Ticket sales alone made a fantastic £1,410. Katie Gillott, Sales and Marketing, commented, “The incredible amount raised during the raffle wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some amazing companies and individuals. It’s an honour to be able to help such a worthy cause.”
Bluebell Wood provide care and support to families of children with a shortened life expectancy. They offer 24-hour respite care, allowing families to be able to recharge their batteries and carry on coping, knowing their child is being provided with first class care. There are only 43 children’s hospices in the UK so Bluebell Wood and its staff are in high demand. It costs over £3million a year to provide this vital service to the children and their families in the region. Amazingly the hospice receives less than 5% statutory funding so rely heavily on fund-raising and volunteers to carry on providing the support that’s become such a life line to so many families.
The staff at Togel have donated an astounding number of clothes, toys, homewares and furniture etc, totalling another £1,500 raised through the Bluebell Wood charity shops. Togel are also working with the Children’s Hospice to completely transform 5 rooms. Togel have enlisted the help of suppliers, sub-contractors and their own staff to complete the works completely free of charge. Designers have also been brought in to ensure the rooms encompass the needs of all the children. The works are due to commence in 2017.
Togel have progressed rapidly to achieve an annual turnover of £18m and an order book containing many Blue Chip names, mostly through repeat orders and word of mouth recommendations from valued clients. Over the years, Togel have developed a great reputation for consistently great delivery and exceptionally high quality.
“As a family-run business, we were delighted to mark this 30-year milestone. We are proud of the fact that our strength and success are built on a customer-led, high quality and cost effective service.”
Robert Leggott, Chief Executive Office.
Teamwork is a vital part of life at Togel, with an extensive range of in house trades, not only covering the office based roles but Joiners, Bench Joiners, Tilers, Decorators, Plasterers and Bricklayers, providing the service their clients have come to expect. A prime example of this dedication and teamwork was showcased in February, with 18 members of Team Togel completing the X Runner Winter Warrior Challenge.
The 10km mud run, through freezing cold water and the undulating hills of the forest surrounding Donnington Racecourse, consisted of over 75 obstacles and was speculated to be the toughest obstacle course yet.
Upon arrival at the venue the team were greeted with ice, sleet and temperatures around freezing but the sense of achievement when crossing that finish line was immense, they’d jogged, sprinted, crawled, waded, swung, jumped and climbed through every obstacle the course had thrown at them and were all still standing and, nearly all of them, smiling at the end.
The team raised a whopping £8,000 for Brainwave, an incredibly selfless charity that helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence. The funds raised have been used to sponsor two local children. The sponsorship will go towards their quarterly assessments at the Brainwave Centre, equipment for home therapy use and daily therapy programmes for the full year.
“The Winter Warrior was by far the best yet hardest thing I’ve ever done! We’re all nursing aches, pains, cuts and bruises but it was so worth it knowing the funds we raised are going to such inspirational children! I couldn’t be more proud of all 18 members of Team Togel, the team consisted of a wide variety of ages and abilities but everyone put 100% into completing the course on the day. Varying members of Team Togel, immediately after the X Runner event.

These items are manufactured in our Joiners Shop, by our team of highly skilled craftsmen, complemented by state of the art manufacturing facilities, including computer controlled automated machinery, CAD facilities and a specialised polishing workshop complete with state of the art spray booth.
Togel, known for their outstanding bespoke Joinery, manufactured a lift platform for the local branch of the Riding for the Disabled. This platform houses a specialised lift, allowing wheelchair users to safely mount the horses.
In March the Rossington branch of the RDA was broken into, with thieves ransacking the office and emptying the contents of the safe and the tack room. This affected hundreds of physically and mentally challenged beneficiaries around Doncaster that rely on their time with the horses for therapy and exercise. To help the charity get back on its feet
Togel raised an additional £1,500 during our Golf-a-Thon. The teams met at Lincolnshire Golf Course at 5:45am and played round no 1. They then headed to Thornhurst Manor Golf Course for a bacon sandwich and refreshments before heading out for round no 2. The four, very tired, teams finished round no 3, with a well-deserved supper of pie and peas and the awards presentation at Styrrup Golf Club.
Togel are passionate about their people, from employees to clients to supply chain, they lead their business with a strong culture of togetherness and partnership. Togel have worked extensively with large numbers of their supply chain for many years and as such have created a formidable team, ensuring the utmost quality in all aspects of their work. These partnerships extend throughout the business.
Togel have donated nearly £6,000, in line with these partnerships, to support clients and supply chain alike in varying challenges, ranging from Macmillan Coffee Mornings to the Prague to Vienna Cycle Ride.
Togel’s clients and supply chain come together, outside of the working environment, once a year for Togel’s annual Golf Day. This year, Togel’s 14th annual Golf Day, went out with a bang, the day was not only their biggest to date but helped complete their £30,000 goal.
Togel, as usual, had a few tricks up their sleeve, offering guests a range of team activities and
challenges, from a Hole in One Competition, giving players the chance to win a brand-new Volvo to a Beat the Comedian challenge. Togel also employed the services of Overland UAS, who produced some amazing footage using their drones and GoPro’s. Again, the weather wasn’t in Togel’s favour but that didn’t stop them from raising over £5,000 for St Johns Hospice.
The Hospice have advised the money will be used to make their rear garden wheelchair and bed friendly. The Chelsea Flower Show have also donated a quarter of the plants used in this year’s show to make the garden more inviting. These two combined are set to create an amazing outside space for the patients and their families to enjoy. The hospice offers an amazing service to people close to the end of their lives, with facilities such as a hair and beauty salon, private access to the garden from each room and varying relative facilities.
Robert Leggott, CEO of Togel commented “Having laid the foundations over the last 29 years, this level of performance has set a high bar for future years, but Togel are in good shape to strive for even more as we continue to apply a competitive edge and current strategy to a growing portfolio where quality is vital.
Like all companies, Togel is on a journey and during our 30th year we have really ventured forward. We have continued to invest back into the business, pioneering new technologies to ensure our clients receive the best service and the highest quality. But there is one, even more, important element to our success – none of this would be possible without the dedication and support of the Togel family.
All of this adds up to a company in good shape, but not at all complacent. A more resilient and tight knit team with clear direction and the ability to quickly respond to opportunities.”
